Default For those Cycle people

I was asked to particapate in a month of showing some of my work . The theme is cycles. So I needed to do a few patterns , so I finished this one yesterday and thought you might like to see it. It is one of the most involved pieces I have ever done , the pattern has over 1000 cuts lines. To give you an idea of the size the round piece in the center on the stand is a quarter.

Am I right in thinking that the piece is done in glass? (Lampworking)

To be honest , glass would have been much cheaper , but since I can't cut glass that well ...yet ..

It is a special optical acryllic , that when cut produces a green edge like glass and give the same effect as cut glass.

Oh and the pattern in wood is ... nope not saying it .... Awe.. nope

is really nice ...

really nice ,is that all one piece or individual pieces glued together?

optical acryllic never heard of it.But it sounds expensive.is it more durable.Like if you drop it will it break just as easy?

It is all one piece. Oh it will still break, or shatter if dropped. The advantages is the green edge and clarity. If you hold it in your hand the only way to know that it isn't glass is the weight.

I seen the water and diamond cutting tool on occ choppers and fell in love,
but at that cost,,, I might as well be in love with carley simon, it would do me as much good....
i like the idea of the whole cad cam, plotting systems, but when you got to debug its a hair puller..
we had the cad cam system and lathe at the votech, without auto stock feed but that thing could turn out a trailer hitch ball in nothing flat, but all the work was done at the keyboard, kinda wrecked the fun of accomplishment..

but was a work horse for duplication

keep them eyes protected when that lazers on.....
