| | Re: Things I notice about my parents. Its really funny some of the things that happen to us thru the years. I used to love cantaloupe in my lunch. my wife tried to spoil me so would cut up the cantaloupe in squares and put them into butter containers with a lid(she would make the lunch the night before and put it in the ice box )this one day it was very hot and my mouth was watering for those delicous hunks of cantaloupe all morning . so when I sat down to eat the cantaloupe i tore off the lid and all I had was a lb. of melted butter. what a let down. another time she went a week without sending something to eat the cantaloupe ( forks, spoon etc. )with. it was a big joke around the house evey night there was a discussion about this problem.I told her it was hard to eat cantaloupe with a lid. so after about a week or so when I oppened my lunch to devour the tasty cantaloupe when I opened my lunch kit there on the bottom was 15 spoons for me to use.what a smart aleck. we still laugh about this even today. those are the memories that make life fun.

| | Re: Things I notice about my parents. I seem to be turning into my dad these past few years. We had the neighbors over for Thanksgiving last year, and their daughter brought her boyfriend along. When I saw him coming up the sidewalk I turned to my aunt and said "that boy needs a haircut and needs to pull his pants up". My aunt gave me this funny look and wondered "where I came from".
I guess it wasn't that many years ago I had long hair myself. I guess the military and my Dad had more influence on me than I thought.
I still can't walk on the grass if there is a sidewalk for that matter. |

| | Re: Things I notice about my parents. Yep, I remember being a long hair hippy dude back in the late 60's till the arm services got me then I was a bald dress right Dress dude.
Heard my DAD say hundreds of times, When are you getting a hair cut.
Well, when I came home on leave before I went on to AIT, he had tears in his eyes and I never heard him say that again.
If only I could messure up to DAD, just a little. |

| | Peaches..cantaloupe..and pizza! Guess there's always a food story in everyone's house.
One night, ma decided to surprise us 7 kids by letting us all make our own homemade pizzas. Now, with 7 kids, buying pizza was considered a luxury so being able to make them was the next best thing.
We each had a pie or cake pan to make our own pizza and must have spent an hour making and baking them. Just as we were all sitting down to eat, in walks Dad... with 3 large pizzas!
Poor guy. I heard him telling my mom, "I try Mary...I really try." It was ok though, none of it went to waste! |
