Default Susie's Mother passed away.

I hope I haven't missed something here as I haven't scanned down the threads but I got a note from Susie yesterday that her Mother passed away and she has brought her Dad to her place.. He fell after he got there and hit his head on the tile. He was put into the hospital and doesn't know what happened or where he is..so say a good prayer for Susie and her Dad.. I will be out of touch tomorrow as I am going to see about corpal tunnel surgery but wanted to let you know about Susie... Charlotte Please add a few prayers for me to be able to carve again..Thank's so much

Thank you Charlotte, Sharon and Joy,
It has been a rough few days. Mom had surgery for a blocked bowel on 02-14-09 but it was too much for someone in her very frail condition and she passed away last Thurs. My brother, husband and I tied up as many of the loose ends as we could a few days, then loaded my father (who has late stage alzheimer's) into our car and headed to Florida from North Carolina.

There is a pretty nice assisted living facility that my mother in law lives in and she has known my father for years. We managed to secure the room right next to her's for dad. Anyone who goes in there to see her would also pop in and see dad. (He won't know them but he loves company to come)

Unfortunately, he slipped and fell hard on their ceramic tile floor, not 3 steps through their main door when we arrived. He hit his forehead and face and was bleeding badly, then started having seizures. We called 911 and spent the rest of that night in the ER with him.

He is doing much better now, 3 days later. This may have been one of those "God works in mysterious ways" things.... because of this, the doctor agreed when I asked him to refer dad to hospice care and when he goes back to the ALF it will be with Hospice. He has advanced rheumatoid arthritis also and can barely use his hands, walks with an unsteady shuffle....very slowly, and has some other health problems too.

I am just grateful that he is not 10 hours away from us like he and mom were for years. Now he will be 5 minutes from the house if traffice is bad....big difference......and a lot less stressful.

Thanks for the kind thoughts and prayers. They are much appreciated....

Susan, I'm sorry for your loss. I know how hard all of what you're going through is and you are in my thoughts and prayers!

As you are too, Charlotte! I hope those doctors get your hands all fixed up and you're soon back to carving! Deborah

Thank you Deborah.... I know you just went through this a short time ago. We all do, sooner or later.

I hope Charlotte gets good news from the Doctor. Nobody should have to live in pain like that. I hope everyone keeps her in their prayers as well. She is such a dear person and a good carver. I want her to be able to carve painlessly again.......
