Default Stolen Artwork

Just your expert opinons needed here

I came across what I believe is the same piece of artwork in two diffrent areas by two diffrent people and am wondering who the TRUE artist is.

First....Jim calder Biography located at Hampton Roads Underground :: Artist Directory

Take note of the Fireman located in from of the fire station at the bottom of the Biography.

Second Claudia Schmidt Gallery Located at
Chainsaw Sculpture Gallery Claudia Schmidt

Third ....do you think that its a diffrent fire fighter all together?

It does look very much like the same carving and even the same photo if you compare the background. I would contact both parties and give them the link to each other's site and photo. Let them figure out what is to be done about it. There may actually be a good explanation.

I could be wrong because it's a bit difficult to compare the two from different angles and distance, but it looks like two different renditions of the same subject. Check both the position and the shape of the goggles on the helmet...they are not the same type. Then check the position of the cross strap over the pocket...not quite the same, as are the different number of gouge or saw marks oposite the belt on the right arm, as it goes toward the shoulder. It would be better if there was at least a full lenght shot of both. I tried to enlarge the photos, but they got too grainy for any decent comparison.

Just my take on this.

AlArchie

I think you are looking at the wrong photo. It is on the second page of Claudia Schmidt web galleries.

Appears to be the same Fire station, same carving, same photo, and even same backgrand people in the photo. Maybe they both worked on it.
Notice however, that the first person had a copyright on the photo and the second one didn't.
