| | Spring is finally here! Spring is sprung,
the grass has riz,
Now it's down to
Logging biz!
Had a pretty bad night here, last night. Maybe I can salvage some carving wood. We lost a couple cherry trees that were in full bloom, and the big silver maple in the back yard will definitely need some TLC. Flowering crabs inthe front bounced back, but I had shaken the snow off them once last night.
The bird is a rose breasted grossbeak that got trapped in the squirrel feeder bottle. He was pretty cold and unable to fly this am and we have him in a box now to warm up.....maybe, just maybe, he'll make it. Won't know for sure till later this afternoon, when we try to release him.
Enjoy!
Al

| | Re: Spring is finally here! Al, I feel bad when I see trees damaged or destroyed. It takes so many years for them to get to a nice size. You people on the south shore sure get the snow. Here in Northern MN, We just got a lot of rain, & almost snow, today, mixed with the rain. Chin up. Dick

| | Re: Spring is finally here! Wait a minute. Isn't this May? Snow in May? That's just not right. But then the weather for the last year or two has been outrageously strange.
I sure hope the bird makes it. The hubby and I have grown quite fond of our little feathered friends that visit us on a regular basis. Poor little thing.

| | Re: Spring is finally here! Well, after 4 days of cleanup, we've got our yard and the neighbors' all cleared of downed trees and branches. The city crew came by this afternoon and picked up all the debris and the yard is clear again! sorry to say that the little grossbeak didn't make it. But we tried!
I figured about 2 tons of deadwood from our two lots and our negighbors big (2 ft dia) maple came down, so probably 3 times that much there. Had enoght logging for a while.

You like maple? come to Tennessee and bring a trailer! It's a weed there! Big beautiful trees dropping seeds everywhere, and almost every one of them sprouts in your yard! If you ignore it for a year, it's 4" thick, next year 8", next 16"! If you don't mow them it'll be a solid wall of maple! Come see me, I'll fix you up with maple.
