I know a lot of people with knee replacements but is there anyone on here who has or knows someone who has had a shoulder replacement? My sawbones says my 77 year old shoulder is completely worn down to a nub and the warranty has run out. He wants to put in a complete new one. Any info anybody has about this I would appreciate. Does it really stop the pain? How long did it take to get back to carving, etc.? The pain right now isn't too bad but he says it will only get worse. I can handle it okay if I don't live too long but what if I stick around 15 or more years? Pictured is what the new part will look like. Comments please. Thanks, Doug |

Doug, I can't give advice on yer shoulder but I can tell ya, my 77 year old hip was replaced last Feb 6 and I'm a new man, mind you, in my case, I can walk around the house pretty well but if I have to walk any more than 50 feet, I have to use a cane. As far as the pain is concerend, it's totally gone. Seems to me there was somebody on here mentioned a shoulder replacement, maybe he'll come forward. Cliff |

Had me going for a second. I thought you were thinking some one might have a spare in the tool box, or carve one or something. You cannot install them by your self. On the serious side, I know people that have had bone replaced; and like anything, some are happy, some are not. Really tough decision, and a mind thing. But I am pretty sure if the Doc says pain is coming, well, get out a big piece of paper for pros and cons. Maybe a second opinion. Best wishes. Jim |

Same as Jim, Know several who has had replacement knees, hips and shoulders. The hip repleacement on my 86 year of father in law, Not so good, Both total knee replacement on a 63 year old lady and you can't keep jer dowm. The shoulder replacement, mostly without pain but when the wealther changes, he changes moods. The one knee total replacement and it is still giving him pain, but not as much as was before and it has only been 4 months. Down time, that depends on the person and if they follow doctor's orders. Sorry couldn't help you any more. Sorry to hear of your shoulder problems Doug. Will lift you up in prayers
