| | Re: Sound engineers, recording session players?? Jim, I was determined to reopen Makin' Tracks this year, so I resigned my long term Mod position in the world of Swiss firearms so I could devote my entire attention back to music and more "recreational" carving..
The studio is finally ready for the first session this weekend, and I hope that my ears aren't assaulted by some of the schtuff as in years past. When they have their own engineer we only have to baby-sit the control room, but if they don't, then I get the pleasure.
The Drum Isolation room. Every drum and the ambient mic's are live mic'd to the control room. The studio kit a a vintage set of Tama Artstars, birdseye maple.

| | Re: Sound engineers, recording session players?? My two kids grew up in the recording studio, and both are excellent musicians. This has always been a refuge for me.
Makin' Tracks Sound Studio has been open for 20 years, Jim. I closed it a year and a half ago while I was having a bout with cancer. Thankfully, I won.......... and I'm very glad to say I'm around this morning to keep a 10am session appointment. First one since a year ago, June. Lots of new processing equipment in teh studio now. Things change fast in this industry, but my Son is right on top of it all and does all of the final mixdowns now. My hearing has lost a lot of the high end EQ, so that's the function I can no longer perform.
