Actually I have not surfed this site much...but it looks great! I am always happy to find a new cool site to spend time at. This one jumped right at me because of that guitar in the top left corner of the header. take a gander. wowsers.

Keoma,
I like playing around with some of the import woods too. You never know what it will cut like or how it will finish until you try. The only thing I DO know about them is to try a small chunk first!!! I've still got foot long pieces of "Ivory Wood" and other species that I've bought along the way that are more suited for shimming up a door than carving on.
There have been some pieces that have totally surprised me and I'm sure that I'll keep trying ANYTHING that looks like a possible "WOW".
Good luck (if you try it) and let me know how it works for you. That Guitar does look great...too bad the article admits that it Wenge doesn't work for acoustical instruments (maybe it could be built around a Moog synthesizer?).
Lots of Luck,
Dan

Naw Dan, I am not an exotic wood buyer. I salvage all my beauties. It was just the guitar that caught my eye. I could see it on the brick wall of my imaginary bistro/coffee shop someday Surrounded by huge healthy climbing Philodendrons and pots of dripping luscious wandering jew. Van Morrison crooning Moondance so sensually through speakers...Pots of coffee brewing and the whole place smells like rich coffee beans and vanilla with the aroma of fresh baked cinnamon rolls.....siiigh...someday.
Anyways...(((Back to reality))) whats your plans for that wood lying about?

You're right. That is some nice work on that guitar. I hope you get your wish and have it hanging on the wall someday. Please don't let all that coffee affect your carving. I've seen and admired your work on other posts and too much caffeine jitters might be a detriment.
I looked through the rest of that web-site. It is pretty informative about the different kinds of woods they sell. Sure am glad you found it and passed it on.
As far as my woodpile - every once in a while I'll try another piece. Sometimes they work...sometimes they don't. I'm just too much of a packrat to let anything I see stay where it's at.
"Talk" to you down the road,
Dan
