Those are some beautiful turnings Jim. I have heard that silver maple is kind of tricky to turn that it likes to splinter real easy. Do you have a problem with that?

Thanks Ron!
I have turned a lot of Silver Maple and have had no problems turning it or any of the Maple family. Its one of my favorites along with Cherry.

Awesome. The grain patterning couldn't be shown any better.

Carving on it; maybe a face worked into the grain so the grain emphasizes the face?

If that makes any sense.
