Default Some of my turning work

Here is some of my work I do on the lathe. I want to start adding some carvings to them for embellishments.
I need to get busy practicing on some scrap wood.

WOW...they are some beautiful turnings. The effect of the grain differences is very striking. Well done. Some carving on some of those would be breath-taking. Lots of practice first and plan your ideas on paper. Looking forward to see them.

Those are fantastic, but I'm not so sure I'd want to mess with carving on them.....sometimes the natural patterns and grains just can't be improved, only meddled with!

Nice work! And I am with Al, not sure about carving on those! Maybe a bit of chip carving...

Beautiful pieces and like ALA and Hi Ho, I wouldn't carve on something like that for sure.

I'm glad my wife doesn't cruise these boards. She'd be out right now trying to find a lathe to fit in an apartment.

Beautiful work.

Thanks all!
Im not going to touch those.
way to thin to carve on now.
all of these are rough turned green dried then finished turned.
the ones I plan to carve on I will leave thicker in the areas that I plan to carve, and will probably be plain wood no figure (for now anyway)

Those are all Maple, the ones with red in them is Box Elder, the one with gray stripes is Silver Maple and the natural edge winged bowl is Hard maple.
