| | So Why Do We Do It!!! So why do we overeat at Thanksgiving every year? I myself have no excuse at least not one that is believeable. I can't say that it all looks so good I can't resist cause I can't see it. I can't say that it all smells so good I can't resist ( have no sense of smell either) so what do I have nothing. Unless!! I got it I figured it all out after my turkey induced nap. It is the fault of our mothers and fathers that's right good ole mom and dad. I am sure others will agree with me in the old rule when we were kids I know it was along time ago but I still remember the CLEAN UP YOUR PLATE RULE!! We were so hammered with this by our parents. Mine was if you don't eat it now you will eat it for breakfast! An the famous there are starving people in other countries that would be happy to have this. I actually got a paddling once for responding back to go ahead and mail it to them (I never claimed to be a smart kid). So that is the excuse that I am using CLEAN UP YOUR PLATE!!!. Well there is one other someone is putting more food on my plate while I am not looking which is pretty easy to do. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving now I better go walk some of it off.
Ron

Luckly I stopped right before the explosion.

We had our thanksgiving a month half ago and yes I did the same as you. Mine is because I just love turkey and dressing with turnip and gravy and even if I am dieting I always fall off the wagon for thanksgiving and Christmas. We were just talking about this thanksgiving yesterday and I said to my father, Why dont we celebrate thanksgiving the same time as our US friends? He looked me square in the eye and without even a smile said " Because the Pilgrims landed in Massachusetts not Ontario" In his late 80's he still has a great sense of humor.

| | Re: So Why Do We Do It!!! Ron, there probably would have been more responses but, they can't get rolled up to the 'puter table. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
No stuffing myself this year.
However, there was plenty of moaning and groaning from family members and friends after dinner. |

| | Re: So Why Do We Do It!!! My Thanksgiving day meal was shrimp and catfish. My grand daughter came down with some mutant cold bug so Thanksgiving has been postponed until Sunday when hopefully she'll be feeling better. But the results will most likely be the same.... too much on the plate. It's just one of the happy hazards of the holidays.
