I wish they didn't happen unintentionally but otherwise don't mind them. That one with the apple is pretty unsettling, lol. |

Hi Bob, there must be away to turn them off. I don't have any smilies on my posts. Maybe it's because I'm a sourpuss. LOL.

Yeah,,,I can't stand them either. I just type away and send a post..then see it in "print" and there are those d**n smilies. Gotta go back and edit them out. Might have been cute or clever with the advent of the first computer,,,but they have outlived their usefulness or cutesy factor. They really are lame at this point in time their novelty is gone. And with them being the automatic setting and you have to disable them is just about as silly as calling a company and hearing...." If you want to hear this message in ENGLISH press #1...." Hey..isn't English the universal language? If anyone wants another language let THEM press some number,,till then lets hear it from the start in ENGLISH. So if I'm typing ,,,,I want to read it in ENGLISH,,,if someone wants some other animated concoction let THEM press some other number. My communication skills aren't always the best and then be cluttered up with more gibberish and nonsense. Yeah,,,I don't like 'em ,,,could you guess? If I were not such a gentleman (????) and this wasn't a public forum,,I'd really let you know what I think about them... Last edited by mark yundt; 12-30-2008 at 09:52 AM. |

Good anology Mark. If most of the folks in the USA talk english and that is the countries lingo why do I, an english speaking person, HAVE TO PUSH #1 !? Should be the same with "smiles". If I feel the need I'll check the box.

i happen to like them...not the animated ones though, and those that make just rubbish, but the simple smile, the sad looking face, the puzzled one and these sorts ...i like them, since they assist me in understanding the mood of the post, english is foreign language for me, and even though i know a lot of words and grammar, i know i often miss the spirit of a post if there is no smileys to help me...

Well if you're taking a poll, I don't have "smiley" problems when I post....

Oh I'm just laughing and having a ball between this post and the other on re-posting photo's. Doris ,,please don't take offense at anything I said. I do understand the language barriers,,,and I too am guilty of misreading some posts and the intent behind them.Just as I'm sure that there are times when I'm not understood and am taken out of context. If any of you knew me personally,,you'd quickly find that I am goofing off most of the time and just having fun. I'm not all that serious most of the time.Maybe I should leave the smilies alone. They might talk better than I can. For some reason I'm just in a silly mood today and acting the part. Last edited by mark yundt; 12-30-2008 at 11:08 AM. |
