Oh, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! I've felt so GUILTY!!! I've even looked for Clutterers Anonimous! But now I know I'm really OK, I can quit carving in the dark (Tony the Tiger/Sugar Pops Ads) to hide the shame of chips in my socks! and pockets, on the floor, and the floor next door!
I DO try to keep my carving areas neat, but it's a loosing battle!
(for those of you who "staged" a clean carving area, we forgive you! Now show us the REAL area!
Wade

Last week I took some "before" pictures because my work area is getting a makeover in the near future. Once you look at the pictures, you'll see why. I can tolerate some clutter but I've never really oraganized my workspace since we moved in a couple years ago. I'm going to slowly work on it over the next couple of months.

Actually, I've already gotten the old oil boiler out of there. It was a nice first step. I'm not proud of this workspace but I hope to be by Christmas.

Love this thread.
I have neat moods and messy moods. I think I'm happiest when it's clean, and I'm in the process of making it into a big mess.

OK Thor!!! Cough up some photos! Don't leave us all hanging with a teaser about 'making a big mess' then not show us what your carving that is creating that mess. Is it your bed head board ???????

Wade...."staged".....never!!! That is just an older picture from when I was working on that carving of the two schooners. Here was are this morning....working on the ship model, ladders actually. My helper is with me, so you see how I can get "so" much work done! She loves to watch Grampie, from his knee. I am also showing the set up for carving as well as ship modelling, with/without the sloping bench tray.

Now Wade, if you look closely at the second picture Bob posted he does have a mess ... it's just an extremely well organized mess laid out in front of that ship. And, with his nifty tilted table I am betting there's a small pile of chips somewhere around his feet, so again organized caosis.

Bob, your helper is delightful and I bet she has you wrapped around her finger! I have been watching your progress with your latest ship and am so very impressed.

Oh Wade ... do Frosted Flakes taste different when eaten in the sunshine as compared to being eaten in the darkness of a closet???

Susan

Your table looks just fine to me, the only problem might be that you must be left handed. At least your tools are pointing that way. )

My table looks worse than that, and that is before I start carving....

Have a wonderful weekend.

Actually, the question should be....."Do Frosted Flakes taste different with wood chips in them?"

Oh, My Gosh! Those WERE woodchips! I noticed they weren't as sweet as usual! Maybe it's time to turn on the lights, now that I know it's "normal" for most of us to carve in a mess of chips and tools!
Bob, I admire how organized you are...are you sure that cute little helper doesn't keep it that way for you?
I dream of my next shop, when I find that Farm! I'm determined everything will have its' own place, and that it'll be in easy reach!
Wade
