Default Is it proper

Is it proper to offer tools for sale on this board or to post that they are offered on Ebay? Don't want to do anything wrong.

i dont think it would be improper to occasionaly offer extra tools for sale that we might have bought and have grown out of, I have many tools stored in cigar boxes i never use,
its a great way for beginners to obtain tools that are proven,

But, this is a grey...area, and the line has to be drawn, unless we all want to read post after post of commercial adverts...

Bob D, might provide comment

I don't mind it off and on...posting a good deal someone sees on E-bay, or mentioning that you've got some tools you'd like to get rid of...

I don't think it would be OK to post a list of all the tools you have to sell...something like PM me for details would sit better for me.

As long as you are not in the tool selling business, I don't see a big problem with it.

But I do also invite you to take a classified ad in the magazine...contact Cindy@foxchapelpublishing for details.

This has come up in the past and I think everyone agreed, it wasn't our people here that anyone had a problem with posting whatever they had for sale, it was outsiders coming in, not part of the group, join or come in as a guest and start hawking their wares! ..................thats the way I remember it and I'm stickin' to it!

My thoughts exactly, Dave!
Doug...you're a regular member of the message board...so it's fine. If someone's first post was about things they have for sale...well...that would be a problem!

This is the second time in about a month that the issue of selling tools has come up. It sounds like you guys have hashed it out before and some points were made that I hadn't thought of.... but then sometimes I don't think!

Anyway, I went to the Spring issue of Wood Carving Illustrated and checked out the classified sction. From a dummies point of view I would never have guessed that the classifieds were something that "John Q Carver" could afford when trying to sell an excess tool now and then. All the ads looked like they are from commercial enterprises. It seems like WCI could generate some extra income if they offered a special discount rate for subscribing carvers or even included a "handy-dandy" advertising form in each issue... you know, something like... 10 words or less for $$$$.
