| | Pricing guidlines? Hello everyone!
I am a new member and I have enjoyed the Message Board a lot. I have carved pretty much in isolation for about 20 years and it is so nice to be able to make contact with other carvers. I have had a business in SW Kansas for 30 years. Not many carvers there.
Since I have retired and moved to the other end of the state, I have had the oportunity to sell my carvings and I wondered if some of you would like to share your pricing formulas? I carve small in the round figures and I do bark carvings.
You can see the type of carvings I do on my web site.(That too has been a challenge for me. You'll find that it takes much too long to load!)
Anyway, this has been great and I look forward to getting acquainted with all of you.

I am from SEK at the Kansas/Oklahoma border on Highway 75.
Lots of good Plains Cottonwood in Central Kansas.
On prices of your work, You will get as many answers as you will carvers. Anyway, from those who sell. What I have seen so far on your site, you are reasonable. |

Nice carvings. Your web site might load faster if you changed your images from bitmaps (.bmp) another image format. I would suggest either .jpg or .gif. Bitmaps are pretty big files so they take longer to load and eat up bandwidth faster. |

Road King - I now know what you are saying about BTM's. I'll try to change those to JPG.
Kenny_S - All my carvings come from Kansas bark. It's not as thick as up North but it works fine for small carvings, just need to find a BIG tree thats been hit by lightening. Do you go to the Wichita Show? |

| | Re: Pricing guidlines? That is what I carve in also. Kansas Plain Cottonwood Bark. There are many trees that has thicker bark as I have some that is 4 to 6 inch thick. I can't compare it to the northern CW Bark as I haven't carved in it.
Yes, I make the Wichita Show about every other year. Hoping to make the Topeka show in Nov. |

| | Re: Pricing guidlines? Hi Cottonwood, and welcome! I visited your website and agree change your images to jpeg and you site will load faster. I also noticed that a couple of your images in your gallery were not visible (at least at my viewing). I don't think your prices are fair.

Welcome to the board, these people are some of the friendliest, knowledgeable people around. I live in Great Bend, and can imagine that there were not too many carvers in SW KS, not too many people as well!
