Default Painting & supplies

I hear alot of times about my painting with my carvings which I appreciate the nice comments so while Im painting today, thought Id tell you how and what type of supplies I use.

I buy cheap Wmart acrylic Apple Brand paints and with 5 basic colors I can mix and match any color of high price paints as Winsor & Newton or Grumbacher other pricely paints from any art shop/store,you can buy.

I mix my paints on the slickest mag/sales booklets that comes in the Sunday paper, mix your paints then throw it away,my water can is just that a old bean can after being cleaned.I pour my paints into plastic bottle caps like on water or soft drinks plus any thing like peanutbutter plastic lids or other house hold items that has a plastic lid/cap.,I have bags of lids. Use them till they are full of dried paint and then just throw them away and get you another plastic lid or cap.

Ice trays are ok but you have to buy new ones ever so often. Plus at times if Im using a certain color, easy to slide a cap or lid closed to me than a whole ice tray.

Brushes again cheap-0's from Wmart and I trim and shape my bristles to fix my style of painting,I can dot a flys eye if it would sit still. LOL

Painting leaves today and till Thurs for this wk ends art show, painting leaves isnt hard, like this little honey bear takes about 15-20mins to paint. If you press a leave in a book and then paint it,it will start to tear and have breaks in it soon plus my leaves are mated and under glass with wooden frames,at times I have painted a frame to bring out a certain strong point in the subject in the painting.

If you just book press leaves and paint them and frame them under glass, they will soon really break quickly plus before you paint a leave if thinking by spraying any type of finish on it that will preserve it more it wont work like that for it harden the leave even more and once again the leave will break into pieces.

I have around 300 falls colored leaves Ive cured and painting leaves with fall colors are supper neat.

All Im trying to say here and you know me,run forrest run{your mouth} But wanted you to know, high price paints and supplies doesnt made the painter or a painting as with your carvings. Ive painted with coffee, tea, berry juices, any thing that has color in it.

I enjoy doing something different and just wanted to share about how and what I paint with. Im not braging on myself, thats not me at all. Your thoughts or any comments are welcome. Thks,Forrest

P.S that black thing on the other leave will be a turkey soon! Looks funny with no head!!

Hi, Forrest!

If you don't press your leaves in a book first, what do you do so that they don't get brittle and break up?

Thanks from me too! I like cheap-o Walmart stuff too. I've used the apple brand paint on some paper mache sculptures and it does just fine.

My husband and I get most of our clothes from there too. Finally convinced my husband that their jeans hold up just as well as the expensive ones from the big department stores.

Sharon,At one time I only wore suits and had 4 suits, plus blazers and tons of slacks,4 pair of wing tip shoes and other dress shoes. But getting out of night clubs and that way of life after my last daughter was born. I then only wore over alls for the next 13 yrs when I went to work at mkts and art shows, well at shows,I would dress up in jeans. In 1994 we had a house fire, burned everything we had,I didnt miss thoses suits, even thoug I do have 2 suits now for when I need to really dress up,like my youngest daughters wedding in Memphis this past Aug.

They say clothes make the man I agree with that to a point. My now wife said I brought more clothes with me when I moved up here than any store she had ever been in! LOL I only wear jeans least Im going to a night out date with my wife or party where my wife works. Im not into dressing up any more,I think wood chips on my clothes suit me ratter nicely now!!

I appreicate you Sharon it does matter where someone buys thier clothes its the person inside that people should value.

Thks again,Forrest
