Sorry to hear that vic,

i cut a tendon on the back of my left middle finger, the va took care of the repair but i was knocked out of using the hand for 6 weeks then i had to ease back into using it over a long period of rehab.
it was 6 months before i could use it without hurting.
hope all ends well and you pay attention to the doc and heal fast...

Double ouch! First for the cut, too bad about that one! Then for the cost!!! Wow, that alone would make me think twice about carving. Think of all the tools and wood you could have bought with that much cash! Glad I live in Canada.

Hope it heals up okay and they are able to fix it properly. Stock up on gloves and guards afterwards, and wear them!

Bob

Thanks,

I like the white glove that has both kevlar and the stainless steel wire, got it from Rick at lil shavers...the other day I poked myself through the glove ....first time! and although it was only about the size of a diebetic test hole lol, it got my attention and made me remember what I was doing!

Enough of this self mutalation jabber! What is going on? I hadn't cut, knicked, stabbed or slashed myself in a coon's age and then after reading this post the other night I've manged to bugger up my right hand, not once, but twice. Last night I jammed my right index finger on my wife's kitchen hand towel rack and lifted the nail clear away from the bed. Did you know that at certain times of the day under special conditions you can actually see stars in your own kitchen? Then today upon returning from a trip to Harbor Freight I was attempting to open the plastic packaging of a folding lock-back utility knife that I bought there and managed to slice my thumb open before I even got the darn thing out of the package! Quick! Someone wrap me in kevlar! I'm an acident waiting to happen! Vic...give me that sign back!

Ooh - sorry to hear about your troubles there Eddy. Maybe if you got a big roll of that green stuff everyone wraps their thumbs with . . . naw, you're right. Better use kevlar. ;-) (LOL on that - good one Eddy.)

- and get better soon. You might want to stay away from sharp objects for a little while.

ChuckT

OH - Vic so sorry to hear not only about the accident but the long and costly recovery process you face. Best wishes that all goes quickly and heals well.

And speaking of accident prevention, is anyone aware that Harbor Freight sells a kevlar lined gloved? The outside is leather or vinyl with some non-skid strips sewed on. I didn't see a price but based on the prices of all their other gloves I don't see it being much more than $4.99. I wouldn't trust it on my holding hand but I sincerely considered buying a pair to wear on my knife hand. Seems to me that it would eliminate the problems with wearing a bulky thumb guard.

Has anyone tried it? Comments?
