| | Re: Other Hobby's- Gardening Great thread! Flower gardening is only second to carving for me. We have garden tours to raise money for different local charities. Here's a few pics.
A couple from spring then summer. Hope you enjoy.

| | Re: Other Hobby's- Gardening Carved Bears... Too hot down here in Central Florida to be outside gardening. Besides, we got bugs so big that if they find you outside in the garden they'll come and carry you off! My planting season goes from November to April.... Ask again in January!

| | Re: Other Hobby's- Gardening We have our small garden. We are getting anywhere from 30+ tomatoes, 4-5 yellow crookneck squash, 1-2 large zucchini, many cucumbers, and many peppers every day now. We are 100% organic with our gardening, and only use manures from the chickens and goats as the fertilizer with our compost that we make every year.
My favorite is the fried zucchini and the occasional fried green maters! |

| | Re: Other Hobby's- Gardening Well - as for me - I LOVE gardening. I could watch my wife do it all day long.
;-) I have what some might call a black thumb - when plants see me coming - the quake from their tips to their roots. Yep - there are very few plants that I haven't managed to kill. My wife though - she's GREAT at it - so I get to enjoy the fruits of her efforts. Of course I still get to do any really heavy work. As long as it doesn't involve touching the plants I think they'll be ok.
Hey Keoma - that gazebo and your gardens look like the perfect place to find little woodspirits, faeries, and gnomes. It looks sooo enchanted.
Thanks for sharing the pics everyone.

| | Re: Other Hobby's- Gardening In the fashion of ChuckT, I love gardening. Years ago, about 35, I was stationed at Cumberland Gap and renting outside the park. My landlord had a huge cornfield and only still planted it all....."just because I always have".
I asked if I could take a small corner for Diana and I a garden.
"Sure," Mac said, "take all you want. Just be true to the 'law of the hills'."
"What law is that Mac?"
"A real man never plants more garden than his wife can take care of."
Sounded like a wonderful "law" to me and I have tried to be true to it ever since. |

| | Re: Other Hobby's- Gardening Well I'm in the city so I'm limited to what I can do. I like to think I've created a nice little space with what I have to work with. In these shots you can see the patio with pergola roof leading to the entrance to my shop. My wife did the mural behind the working fountain. We have a bistro set here for "wine time" before dinner. Then the various paths leading to and from my studio to the lower deck which has a roof with built in stereo, track lighting, ceiling fan,bbq grill and koi pond. It had up to last year a walnut tree growing right through the center of it and through the roof. Due to it's size and movement I had to take it down. So now the deck is being replaced with pavers to match all the other deck and walkways. There is a herb garden just outside the back door leading to the kitchen. And I do have some tomato plants as well alongside the shop.
I designed and built everything here.
