| | One of those Nights Well, Another night and can't sleep!!!
Always been a late owl and worked different shifts and never a normall one. Weirdhour type shifts and the usual evenings, and night shifts.
You would think after being retired for almost 3 years, one would get back in to a routine but, Seems I can't.
Nothing on the bube tube(TV),can't carve as I would wake up the little bride and she is a bear when she hasn't had her beauty sleep. I keep telling her she is beautiful enough but some how, that does not comput in her mind at 3 am in the morning.
So hoHum, I am reduced to playing games on the 'puter and posting messages on the board.
Any of you ever have one of those nights?
Seems mine come more often! Ho Hum.
Maybe drop some pots and pans and pertend I am asleep.
Nah, she is smarter than that and would see through that for sure.
Ok, It's back to Reversi. |

| | Re: One of those Nights Guess what Kenny, I been up covering for a fellars vacation, I got promoted and have a day position, but being short handed, I'm having to work the graveyard shift. You must do power carving if you wake up the bride or worse are you trying to carve in bed, those wood chips are worse than crackers to sleep on, good luck going to sleep.

| | Re: One of those Nights Kenny, Same here! I've been retired since 1990, and need less and less sleep. I some times wake up at 2:15 am and stay up the rest of the night. Tv is a waste of time, as are computer games (to me anyway). Used to read, then moved on to making drawings that could be carved. Now I try to carve with a knife, and hand quilt. Works okay especially since I bought some extra good and expensive lights. Only down side is that my wife says "how come you get so much done and I don't"? I haven't figured out how to answer her. | | Re: One of those Nights Me thinks it is the Credance Clearwater Revial blaring or Three DogsNight or the Beach Boys or many more tallented singers.
It could be the night snacks or the rattling of ice for my Ice tea( a 24/7) habit. HMmmmmmm may be the tea that keeps me up. Or it could be I am just plain noisy. Probably a combination of them all and yes, she is a light sleeper and one of those early to bed, early to rise gals. Me, Late to bed and usually early to rise as she came from a military family and it is up at the butt crack of dawn.
She never could undwerstand night shift and sleeping days or was it trying to sleep days and she is also anoisy person. |

| | Re: One of those Nights May not be the ideal solution, but do any rough stuff during the day when noise is allowed, and do a lot of it. Then on those sleepless nights, you have something you can work on quietly. Some of the best work I've done happens at 3:am. No phones ringing, no salemen to scream at at the door, no snoopy grandkids hollering for grandad or asking "whatcha doon?"
As to how you answer your wife about how you get things done and she doesn't, should I give you an answer that will land you in hot water? |

| | Re: One of those Nights Don't have any of those problems with the radio blaring.
Had one of those sleepless nights not to long ago and went out in to the Garge/shop and was using the table saw cutting some big boards down and had this feeling someone was watching me as the saw was noisy and the radio was blaring and I turned around and there stood a ploiceman. Of course, I knew the young officer and had watch him grow up, a fine lad. He said, Mr. Sanders, Don't you think it is time to shut the music and saws off for the night?. It was 2:30 and some nosey neighbor complained. I was apologetic to the young officer and then he ask, why wasn't I asleep at this time of the night? Well, Just couldn't tell him but did enjoy riding around with him for a couple of hours tho. |

| | Re: One of those Nights Yep, another one of those nights.
They seem to be coming more often these nights. Drives the little bride batty, well more so than she is. But have notice the old"dang club" hasn't been used for a while. Uncle Arthur came to visit her hands the past couple of days, so she can't swing the old bat. Hate it when he come to visit. I keep thinking she doesn't love me anymore when I don't get my daily "Bam" from that "dang club".
Maybe Uncle Arthur will leave and she will get back to her usually club swinging ways.
Later dudes and dudets. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
