Whitecree, I had tendonitis in both arms and could not work at my forge for over a year. I quickly went back to carving. Carving in the round was difficult but I found I could do relief carving without pain if I used a carvers hook to support the workpiece without needing me to hold it down. Don't push this, it will not get better quickly, especially if you continue to abuse the tendons. Take care of yourself now or you will be watching others carve for a long time.

(sigh) Thanks for the encouragement/advice, folks. I'll give the arm a rest for a month or so, then start in on something simple, like maybe a paddle or bent box. Something that doesn't require much detail or finesse, just hacking out.


Looking on the bright side, maybe a good time to clean my shop?
