Doug,
It was great meeting you and your wife last weekend, and I thought the show was fantastic. There was wood, tools, and books galore for sale, and your featured carver, Fred Zavadil, is a phenomenal figure carver. For anyone who didn't make it and could have, you missed a good one. Mark your calenders for next year .
Actually I'm a little jealous Doug. It reminded me of the shows the Mohawk Valley Art and Woodcarving Assoc. used to have only with more vendors.
I also like the way the competition pieces are displayed together in a seperate area. I've got a few pictures for everyone. Hope you don't mind including one of you and your wife.

Mike
I was glad to see you and your wife make the show. I hope you enjoyed your stay in Niagara Falls. Your Santa video is great and I have already started it.
Did you get to the seminar on Sunday Morning?
I am adding a few more photos from the show.
Doug

A few more photos from the Niagara Falls Show.
The last photo is my wife at my table. You will notice a lot of Gene Messer's tutorial carvings. Thanks Gene.

We always have a good time in Ontario Doug. The butterfly conservatory downriver of the Falls is a great vaccination against cabin fever. That's why we usually visit it in Jan to coincide with the woodworking/woodcarving show in Hamilton at the Warplane Museum. Then there's "Woodbutcher" west of Toronto.

Nope, unfortunately I had to pass on the seminar. It was our puppy's first two night stay at the kennel and "the boss" wanted to get back in time to get her out of hock Sunday afternoon.

OK, I'll see your pictures and raise you five more <G>.

Like I said, I didn't make the seminar, but I did hear some rumors...

Part of Fred's seminar was supposed to be video clips from a recent project. The person who shot the video spent two months filming the carving process, and, according to him, the clips shown at the seminar were part of a future DVD. While I was there, I bought a book Fred had available. The piece in the book was the bust of a couple and the book outlined the carving process nicely... might be the same project as the DVD, but I didn't find out for sure. Stay tuned.
