Default Neglected

While driving around reasonably familiar streets today, I noticed a sadly neglected carving for the first time. While not the greatest carving I have ever seen, I was impressed that it had all been carved from a single stump. I felt so sad for the carver seeing their creation go by the wayside like that. There wasn't even a plaque or mention of the carver's name anywhere. I would not have though twice about such a thing last year. As a new wood carver, I am saddened by the sight of such neglect for someone's hard work.

I like this carving. It would nice to be able to find out who did it. I hope it gets preserved some how. Thanks for sharing Joe.

Hey Joe,
where exactly is the carving located? I'd like to check it out next time I'm down that side of town..........and thanks for bringing it to our attention.

G'day John. The carving is on Chapel Rd? Keysborough. It is on the same street as the animal shelter, on a lot which I think belongs to some clubhouse. I would have to look it up on the Melway to be certain.

Thanks Joe,
my sister lives in Emerald, so next time I visit I will try and get across to Keysborough for a look, it could be a while as I live in Bridgewater about 45Ks' on the high side of Bendigo........
It looks like the carving was done from a big old Cypress? and I agree, a terrible shame that the recipients couldn't bother to maintain what is surely a local point of interest .
Thanks again
John
