| | moving threads In my effort to moderate, grin. I have been moving posts to the right section, but made a few errors. I think I deleted the posts some how. This wasn't intentional. I'll find out ,the right way to move them before doing it again.

| | Re: moving threads Lynn ,
There are 19 moderators. Some are not active.
The job of a moderator , is to monotor the site , to insure a friendly place to exchange ideas , and make posts meet the bill of rights. To stop spam, and arguments which could cause hard feelings between site members.
We merge threads to make them more coherent , move thread to more correct locations, delete threads which are dupilacates , or inflamatory.
We read every thread , and most deleted threads are deleted from the public view , but held for the moderators and Fox Chaples staff to read. They can return a thread if they feel it was deleted without cause.
Basicly they assist to keep the site from being , a negative place.

| | Re: moving threads One important responsibility that I would like to add to Ash's list is that we also try and insure that members get answers/responses to their posts. Especially those who are new or do not post very often. We may not be able to answer their concerns; but, at least we let them know they are not being ignored. |

| | Re: moving threads For anyone interested ...
Scroll down the main page of the forum. At the bottom of the Wood Carving section is a green bar that includes "View Forum Leaders". Click on that. It will display exactly who all the moderators are and what area of expertise they have as well as which forums they tend to moderate.
As far as I know, no moderator is limited or restricted to specific forum areas, they can intervene if necessary on any thread that becomes inflammatory, offensive or just out right abusive.
Moderators are especially instructed to watch the message board over the weekend days and the evenings when our Admin, BobD, is not on duty. This way no one can come in late Friday night to slam or spam the forum, post something very outrageous or start a 'fight' thinking that their thread or posting is safe until BobD's return.
This forum has gentlemanly rules for engagement, The Bill of Rights, and when everyone of the forum adheres to those simple rules of courtesy there is little need for moderators.

| | Re: moving threads That's another thing mods do...They answer questions before I have the time to answer! <GRIN>
Thanks guys!
The mods are really the unsung heroes here on the board. I never have enough time to do all of the work that needs done on the board...bloody deadlines <GRIN>. The mods keep everything running smoothly...whether it's getting rid of a spammer, or helping someone size a photo properly, or just making sure, as people have said, a newby gets the help and attention they deserve.
A big thanks from me to all of the mods! You all do great work!
Bob
