Default Moving to Texas

We finally have a contract on our home in New Orleans after 12 months on the market. It’s going to be hard to leave 3 acres and a 24x 30 work shop. We‘ve lived here for 40 years . Our new home will be in North Dallas. We will be in a subdivision ¼ acre lot, with a serious down size - the HOA only allows a 10x 12 shed in the backyard, so I’ll have to convert the garage to a workshop. This will be a whole new experience of living close to other people. The good news is we will be one block from my son’s house and a new grandson coming on June 10th.
I won’t have much time for carving the next couple of months with some repair to the house and unpacking 5 storage units - we will be very busy setting up the house. I will try to visit the forum regularly, so I can at least enjoy seeing what everyone is doing.

Hi Bill,
Good luck on the move, hope the transition goes smoothly. You'll be happy being that close to your son, your new grandson will help you forget about your home of 40 years. Three of our grandkids just left after being here since Friday afternoon, THANK GOD!!!!!!!! Just kidding, they're the best thing that ever happened in my life, although I think I could take two day nap.

Bill, I love both Texas and New Orleans my first job was fixing antique furniture in the garden district I learned most of what I do now. I learned how to carve with a chainsaw in the great city of San Antonio hard to say which city has the best food.

Hi Don,
I think Texas will be fun theirs a lot to explore. The food will be the hard part, will miss the snowball, crawfish , and crabs .My wife has family in San Antonio, we'll have to check out the food.

Hey Bill, home is where the heart is. I believe that with every fibre of my body. Just imagine yourself doing some carving with your grandson and all the memories you have built up in that house of yours will drift away to a mere speck. There simply is no substitute for quality time with family members. Good luck on the move. Joe.
