My husband's been to Montana and anytime he gets sick of the congestion and traffic here, it's always, "We're packing up and moving to Montana!" It's the one state he says he's got to take me to. From the way he describes it, it's God's Country!

Sounds like you'll be a making a nice move!

I was traveling across Montana in January 1994 by myself, going to Florida from Washington State, to buy a place there. I had a great down sleeping bag and decided to sleep on the frozen Montana ground, pulled off the road a few miles and spread out. The bag was rated to zero and it was 3 out, so why not?! I actually slept great! But when I woke in the morning, there was a SNOWSHOE RABBIT crowding the face opening in my sleeping bag, warming himself off my breath!!! He was about 3 inches from my face! He did not want to leave, was very disappointed that I woke up! If I had left the truck running he might have climbed in and rode to Florida with me! Instead he reluctantly hopped away, probably hoping to find a coyote! Montana is beautiful. I've passed through it 4 or 5 times, Summer and Winter, and have always been impressed. The rabbit story is true.

When you get to Billings area, you will have to look up Alex Bisso and Clark Schreibeis both good carvers. Alex is the one who sells cottonwood bark and Clark is a Big time fish carver. He has several World Fish Carving titles to his name. I am sure there are other carvers there also. Have a good move out there and I know you will enjoy it out that way. The Rockies are great....
