Smile Moving to Montana

This summer I will be moving my family to Montana. It will be outside the billings area. Both sides of my mother's and father's side left Montana about 75-100 years ago. With the constant rise of realestate and land prices it is still afordable. My brother and I are moving my mom this spring and I will follow a few months. The reason for this thread is I think is is so very important to be close to your imediate family. In the old days the family took care of grandma and grandpa.Anyway, I hope to explore and hike for different types of wood as I do here.I'll miss the woods here in N.Carolnia for it has been good to me.

I have some bad memorys about Montana, My Son( the last one) got a full blown scholarship to play foot ball there.we remember how hard it was to leave him there, the temp, was about 12 degrees. as we drove away we rember the sadness in us and the look on his face . thats what I remember about montana

If you put the federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert , in five years there'd be a shortage of sand.

Woodtrapper,
I wish you all the best in your move.

Having lived in Idaho for a time I know you will enjoy the adventure (but not the winds). Its a big change and you should take the time to educate yourself on the area and have a good pickup!!!

Montana.......Just that word gets me to wishing I could pack my bedroll, load up the horses and head west. The wife and I drove across the high-line a couple of years ago following the Lewis & Clark trail. We stayed a week at a ranch near Orvando and rode horses on portions of the L&C trail. What an experience. I've always wanted to live in that state but the realestate is just too expensive for an Okie hillbilly.

Keep us posted on your move and let me know if you have room in your yard for us to tie up the horses!! I really envy you!
