| Sunday, August 23, 2009 Hello Everyone: I’ve received some emails from folks asking if I’m OK, and where have I been. First of all I’m OK, I’m still woodcarving, but not quite as much here lately. I’m learning how to play the Native American flute and have joined www.fluteportal.com. I’m spending a lot of time with those folks learning more about the NA flute. Like you all, the folks over at ‘The Flute Portal’ as very nice and always helpful. They know I’m a woodcarver, painter and accept me anyway. LOL--just kidding, they think it’s cool. My hubby and I have been dealing with his mother’s dementia which is getting worse. So that means twice a week down to Mesa, AZ. Which is a 2 hour drive down and some times trips even more often? Those of you who have had family and friends with this and related diseases know how sad it can be to watch loved ones slip away. She is getting really good care and that means a lot to us and her quality of life. Still sad……sigh I did join another woodcarving site and posted for a while, but the NA flute took over my time with them too. LOL Out of respect for WCI I don’t feel it’s proper to list the site here, but if you would like send me an email at barkladyaz@yahoo.com for the address. Another activity taking my time is preparing for our trip to England in a few weeks to visit friends. This packing for air travel is freaking me out—what has to go in checked luggage and what can go in carry-on luggage. I’ve been checking British Airways almost daily to look for changes. I know, I know, it’s for our safety and I accept that believe you me. It’s still a hassle though. Nice thing is our friends who will be waiting for us at Heathrow. Can’t wait to see them! I’ll try not to be such a stranger and check-in from time to time. Also, when I get my latest carving completed I’ll post it. So my friends I wish you all health and lots of time for carving. You’ll hear from me again, I promise. Hugs Too All, Kathy AKA Mottles

Kathy, so glad you are alright. The NA woodflute? When you learn how to play, how about telling me. We got one many years ago at Red Earth in Oklahoma City. I also have a clay hand (?) flute. Still can't play either. I miss your sunshine and laughter, (it even comes thru the Thanks for letting us all know you are ok. Wanda

Hi Kathy, I sure know how it goes to try new things. it takes a lot of time, and you just have to do it, or slight yourself from learning it, and making friends to help you learn it. I streek back and forth from scrolling to carving, and gardening, and embroidery. and, and, and, glad to see your ok. and so sorry to hear of your mom in law. it is always sad to lose family. being new to carving, I am sad to see you go to a other happy place to learn a new thing. but I do understand. I play a few instruments myself. and long to get back to that also. there is only so much time. you go girl. and we wish you the best of luck. and be safe on your trip. yep packing is a bummer. Evie

Kathy, so glad you are okay! I'm sorry about your mom inlaw, It's really hard to see our parents slip away.I watched my mom slip away, and know how heart wrenching it can be.She had lung problems, and lack of enough oxygen caused her to have kind of a dementia.God Bless you and your family. On a lighter note, awesome you are learning to play N.A. flute and sounds like a fantastic vacation! Miss you and all my best to you and yours!
