I see that you are logged in on the board. I assume, and hope, that your surgery went well and that you are on the road to recovery. Several of my friends have had to undergo this procedure and I am happy to report that all are doing well. They report that even though the rehab was painful, it was worth the effort and that they should have had it done sooner. Anyway, Merry Christmas and it's good to know that you are back with us. |

Thanks, Paul! An hope you hada blessed Christmas, too! And to everyoneelse on board. Got a bit of a setback toay with some pretty hefty swelling in the elbow and forearm. Spent most of the day in the hospial ER getting poked and prodded...turns out there is a small blood clot behind the bicep. They have me on blood thinner shots and cumadin. Have to go back every day fer the next three daysfor follow up, but they all seem to think this will straighten out right on schedule. Sorry about the typing, but this one-handed-left-handed-at that Al |

I hope your recovery goes well Al. Take care and follow the doctors orders and you should be back carving in no time. One handed....difficult to carve, so brush up on your drawing skills, planning your next carving projects and sketching them, that ought to keep you occupied and make the time go faster. Good luck.Bob

Al, I got a carving friend who is on blood thinner and cumadin. The biggest drawback, he says, is that when a tool slips the cut tends to bleed profusely. Not life threatening; but, does play havoc with the carving (unless, of course, it is Santa or cardinals). Another carving friend had rotator cuff surgery a couple of years ago. The recovery for using hand tools took quite a while. But, she is now back to carving show winning pieces. So hang in there, it will get better

Hello, If you are taking a blood thinner of any kind, it is a good idea to purchase an inexpensive peice of leather about 2.5 feet wide by 3 feet long, sew it to a strong, thivk peice of canvas, and keep that in you lap while carving. Dan |
