I have two sitting in the shop right now. A dressed 73 Honda CB550 Four in need of a rotor and stator and a hardtail chopper frame with a 76 Honda CB750 Four motor in need of carbs. Missing the parts for these is driving me nuts!! It's summer and I want to ride!!

Cliff,
Thanks for speaking up. Hope you find your parts soon. You know that is pretty wild I was just talking to a buddy last night about a honda with a stator problem. He was talking to the tune of $1000. Hope you have better luck.

Safe Carving, Safe Riding, and God Bless,

Mark

While out to dinner with a friend one night, we were talking about upcoming summer rides. It was late December. The wife looked at me and said she'd rather not ride her own anymore and I should sell hers and get the one I want. I sold my `98 Superglide to another friend and in January `07, picked up new Harley Ultra Classic. I thought I'd keep her Sportster for short, around town jaunts. I loved the Ultra so much I sold her Sporty shortly after out first long trip. We went from northern IL to Austin, TX. Two weeks, one wedding and the Republic of Texas - ROT - Rally.

I always have some bass wood and a bench knife with me in the saddle bags. I love stopping and carving. And summer has finally come to the Chicago area. This year, I'm heading to NC for the tail of the Dragon.

My first bike was a 1979 CB550 - 4, I put 19,000 + miles on it the first year then traded it in for a CX500. I kept that one for about 10 years or until I replaced the 3rd stator then got a 1992 RS100S (the first two bikes were Honda's and the last bike was a BMW for those who are not familiar with the model numbers). I kept that one until the oldest boy was about to get his drivers license then I sold it. I wanted to have some moral high ground when I told him that they were not safe, especially for a 16 year old. My newest bike is a 2008 Surly LHT ( a touring bike, with a leather seat and a peak of a little over 2 hp). I hope that pedaling counts as being a biker :-) There are times when I am climbing up a hill and I wish I had a bike where all I had to do was twist my wrist harder. I keep telling myself that this is healthier for me and I do get to wear unique attire just not leather.

Daddio, you know its not many of us who get to look back and know they made the right choice, Brother you are truly a lucky man.
Jim,
Glad to have you along as well. The Electra Glide was my second cjhoice, but if I ever get a new one it may become my first choice.
Ed,
Enjoy those rides with your wife. If I had to choose between the sporty and the Classic, I guess I would have went with the classic too. They are a nice bike got alot of buddies riding those.
Darrall,
Brother I feel you. I'm still playing the role of hypocrit, I don't encourage my 17 year old to ride either. I try to explain that when I was his age I was not mature enough nor responsible enough to own a bike. My wife would tell you that I'm still not. Good luck with the pedals. My wife got on an exercise kick last year, I came home from work one day and she said lets go for a bike ride. She and the kids were out in the drive way when I pulled the Harley out of the garage. Needless to say she did not see the humor in it. I ended up peddling longer that night than I wanted.
Thanks for chiming in.

Safe Riding, Safe Carving and God Bless,

Mark

I am hesitant to wade in on this one as I haven't rrode a cycle for 30 years.

My first ever was a Cushman Eagle, Terror of the back roads with that one when I was a youngster, then a 305 Dream(honda), 650 Bonny and rode that one for years, then the last one was a Beamer(BMW).

But life got in the way(Little Bride), Well, building rods and motorcycles went to the wayside.

But I have been eyeing one of those new Spyders.

But as the title indicats, I never considered myself as a biker though.
