I haven't been on the forum for the past couple of days. We lost a very good friend. We knew that it was eminent but we tried for obvious reasons to put it off as long as possible. We made an appointment for this Tuesday to take her in but the same day that we made the appointment she took a turn for the worse and we had to move it up to this past Saturday morning. With out a doubt, putting her down was one of the hardest things that I've ever had to do. Even thought I knew that it was for the best and that it would end her suffering and pain it hurt as much or even greater than if I'd cut and arm or leg off of myself. She was a good girl and will really be missed. I wrote the following bit of prose up and we've framed it and her picture in memory of her. Goodbye my friend… But before you go let us thank you… For years of undying loyalty; For companionship through the good times and bad; For total acceptance, no matter how we looked or felt; For a trust beyond comparison; For friendship above and beyond what could ever be imagined; For more happiness and contentment than could ever be repaid; For warm wet bed side licks each morning; For ruffling up our rugs each evening; For all those growls and barks when you felt we were in danger; For all those happy wags each time we returned home…. Goodbye my friend… Thank you for spending time with us… Rest assured you will be dearly missed!

Eddy, I'm sorry to hear of the loss of such a devoted friend and companion. We went throught the same thing a few years ago and it was very difficult. Hang in there and keep on remembering the good times you were able to share with her. |

Sorry for your loss Eddie. I have 3 myself and they are as much a part of the family as yours was. No matter what kind of day you had, the pooches are always happy to see you.

Beautiful bit of writing to remember a beautiful friend and companion Eddy. Sorry for your loss. We have had our Sib Husky for 8 years and she is totally a loved member of our family. The kids each take turns letting her sleep with them and have grown up with her as their constant friend. Hopefully we'll have many more years with her, but when that time comes we'll be heartbroken to see her go. Condolences - ChuckT |

Eddy, Sorry to hear the news, I know it is tough. I have cats myself and the last one I lost broke my heart. He was a good buddy. A strange twist of fate allowed me to rescue a kitten the next day. So life goes on. Take care. Jim |

Eddy, Don't know who it was that "coined" the phrase MANS BEST FRIEND. But it sure is true. I know that in time you'll have another BEST FRIEND. Sorry for your loss. Tom H

Eddy, I am so sorry...... Most of my very best friends have had four legs. I have been where you are now, more than once. It never gets any easier. They are family. I don't know what your plans are, but I could never imagine life without a dog. I hope that in a little while, you will feel like doing it all over again. Some folks feel the pain in the end isn't worth it, but I think it is..... my deepest sympathy to you and your family. susieq |
