I go with a group 1 weekend a month to a local tool supply store to carve and dislpay our work. The idea is to promote carving and of course the store might pick up a few sales of carving tools. We carve a little, visit a lot and answer questions from curious bystanders. It's all really a lot of fun, meeting new people and showing off our wares. The disappointing part came when I unpacked my tool caddy today and discovered a favorite palm gouge (9/7mm) is missing. I phoned all the guys to see if they had noticed if I had left it behind, but I hadn't. I guess it still could be just misplaced, but can not think of where. You see, we leave our table and tools to grab a coffee, or talk to another carver, or explain a carving project and there are people milling around all sides of our tables trying to get a look. I don't want to come out and say it was taken but I have no other explanation. Disappointing, Patrick |

I bet it ended up in some other carvers tool case. Happens all the time. I returned a few weeks ago form a carving class and noticed just a couple of days ago a odd looking tool in my case. Hope it's not yours.

Patrick, Bummer, That is why it is good to always put your name on your tools since most of us pretty much use the same brands. Hope you find it, Tom |

Hello Patrick, My name is Rob Vega (Lazy C.), I know that there is always that thought... 'What if its true?'.... However, always give benefit of the doubt. Marc is right... As for me, there is something almost imposturous about finding, let alone using someone else's tool on your own carvings... Artist's i know are very clannish with their tools... It's kind of like... I will let you borrow my tool, but i can't have anyone elses tool gouge into my own work. In other words, my work is like... 'Virginal', if you like... I 'WILL NOT' have it violated by someone else's instruments! Even if the intention is good! If it's something im not concerned with and/or you lend a hand, or a tool, then im okay with it!..... I hope i didn't confuse you here Patrick.....? There is always however by a longshot, a measure of dishonesty... But over all i have experienced artist of various mediums to be brutally honest, even the least of them..... Best wishes, a friend... Rob V.(Lazy C.)

Tom..You are right and I'm in the process of doing that very thing...thanks. Rob...Know exactly what you are referring to...its like the piece becomes damaged goods or somthing. I did check with the group and no one has it, so maybe someone in the crowd needed it more than me.... Patrick |
