| | Lindy Merry Christmas Everyone,
I'm Lindy's mom and I know she has a few friends on here so I wanted to bring you up to speed on the clot in her leg as it has now turned serious and I know she had mentioned it in one of her posts when this was all beginning. So to bring you quickly up to speed, Lindy developed a clot in her lower calf about 4 weeks ago caused by her broken foot. Approximately 3 weeks ago I sent her to the hospital by Ambulance because the pain in her leg had become so overwhelming and through family experience (I lost my eldest son just over 2 years ago to a clot in the leg), I wasn't risking her as well. The hospital sent her home several hours later with an appointment to do a Doppler Ultrasound the next morning. Keeping in mind now that the pain is in her lower calf - they only did the Doppler on the upper thigh to knee, so - hmmm - yup that's right they didn't find a clot. Made her sit another 90 minutes to tell her that.
2 more weeks go by, Lindy can hardly walk so I convinced her to let me take her to the doctor. He immediately sends her for the Doppler again and this time, with a little convincing from Lindy they did the whole leg. Well of course they found the clot and based on Lindy's pain it had already moved about 3 inches up the thigh, so the doctor sends her back to the hospital for treatment. After 4 hours they sent her home telling her they don't treat clots in the calf and that it has no choice but to heal since they don't move or propogate in the calf. If she really insists they can book another ultrasound. We got home, Linda called her doctor and had them book the ultrasound at the same location this last one was because she knew they would check all of the leg. That new ultrasound was this morning. There are now 3 veins involved, one of them at the trunk where the veins branch and 2 veins have occlussions (blockages). Some of this has also moved above her knee which means she can finally be treated. Now I can say, with gratitude that even though this has now turned somewhat serious, Linda is being treated and will be in the Anti-Coagulation Clinic every day for the next week while we try to keep the clots from breaking anything off and getting the anti-coagulant (blood thinners) into her. This whole thing has kept her in a great deal of pain and exhausted. But Lindy being who she is made sure that everyone around her had a worry free Christmas Day even though she knew at that point the clot had moved up in behind her knee. All of this for trying to help that little boy and she would do it all again because that is her nature.
So please send her good healing thoughts, and even though she probably won't be on the forum everyday she has told me that there are those of you she would call friend and I thought you would want to know what's happening and why she hasn't been posting that much of late. ![004[1]1](http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.com/forum/images/smilies/004[1]1.gif) New Year

| | Re: Lindy I will keep Lindy in my prayers......but WHAT the heck were those doctors thinking, ignoring a clot in the leg for so long? After my last shoulder surgery I developed a tiny clot in my bicep and they had me through so many dopplers and ultra sounds that I felt like jello, but they found it and had me on blood thinners for several months.
She is very fortunate to have proper treatment at last. and thank you for bringinig us up to speed

| | Re: Lindy Sorry to hear about Lindy. Tell her to get well soon. Prayer, patience and perserverance--and of course good family always got me through injuries related to my rescue squad work--Been there, done that. Tell her to hang in there--THIS TOO SHALL PASS! Look forward to hearing from Lindy and you too Carvin Grannie--and make sure you and your family take care of themselves too. Stress is a bugger and it can do a lot when you're running and worrying. Here's a wish and hope for a H-appy and HEALTHY New Year!

| | Re: Lindy Thank you for letting us know how Lindy is, and please tell her how much all of us are pulling for her to heal quickly and completely. I was very moved by her heroic story for the boy's sake, and I am grateful to people like her who are willing to take risks for strangers.
She is a jewel.
