Default Like Christmas!!!!

I attended my first Working with Wood trade show on the weekend. Talk about a kid in a candy store feeling! The most beautiful woods I have ever seen all together in one place, tools to drool over, and demonstrations on everything wood. I had limited funds so I managed to pick up only offcuts and pieces no one wanted which was fine by me anyway. The smallest piece was 5" x 3" x 3".
Woods : Blackheart Sassafrass, Purpleheart(Jacarandah), Red Cedar, Queen Ebony, Myrtle, Huon Pine, Musk, Celery top Pine. Total cost: $30
My mind is working overtime to think of all the possibilities.

Sounds like you had a great time, how about some pictures of that wood. You named some that I've never even heard of.

That's quite a varied collection. I see some fine bases for carvings in that lot

Very cool Joe!Very nice wood!!!! It is like Christmas! grin! I was never going to buy wood, but I succumbed and ordered some any how! When my mail lady delivers it, she says "now that's heavy" and I'm almost squealing and bouncing up and down telling her it's my wood I ordered! Got to show her my carvings someday!

Hi Sharon, I decided some time ago that I was never going to purchase wood, but I was just too tempted by far with all on offer. I was actually a little surprised to see fairly low prices on large seasoned planks, burls and other. I still haven't touched my pieces, just dreaming about it

Wow, I agree 'wood candy store' looks like you got some fine wood to carve...should keep you going though the winter...or is it getting into summer downunder? Anyway thank you for sharing that wonderful wood.

Yep, getting into the heat now for the lead up to summer Kathy, hopefully not as hot as a couple of years ago when Black Saturday occurred on my birthday...47.5 degrees Celsius. I don't want to experience that one again! You have a fine old winter now and thanks for stopping by to have a look.
