Well, I am slower than Christmas anyway. My oldest daughter was born the 24th, so now by the time my birhtday rolls around they just give me presents and ask if we really have to have another big dinner and cake. ;->

I am pretty sure there is a new PC circular saw coming my way tomorrow. I got rid of my tablesaw to make room and my cheap SkilSaw and benchtop band saw don't rip as square as I would like, so I asked for a better circular saw that has a good dust port.

Santa was good to me this year, I received a Belt Grinder (for making and sharpening knives) and a Baldor Buffer for polishing knives.
Also a new respirator which I really like; it fits like a glove with no air leaks.
(Please don't think I get everything I ask for, these have been on my wish list for several years)

CC,
It is a KMG belt grinder.
http://www.beaumontmetalworks.com/grinder.html

It is machined from steel and requires two men and a boy to lift it.
Unfortunately, they were nowhere to be found when I had to move it.

Some advice should you get one;
don't assemble it in the kitchen 30 feet from your work bench.

The last time I did something that foolish was when I bought my 18" bandsaw.
The store loaded it into my truck with a forklift, but when I arrived home, no forklift... I am positive the forklift was right behind me when I left the store.

So I unloaded it all by myself (not a recommended procedure).
I was surprised to learn that 346 lbs was that heavy.
Actually unloading it was rather easy once I had the center-of-gravity beyond my tailgate. You could say it almost unloaded itself.

I was disappointed to learn that Mr. Einstein's theory about "a mass at rest wanting to remain at rest" may not always hold true.
I do however agree with the one about a mass in motion.

Rick:
I think it will be easier, just to have you make me a knife then to buy a grinder.
I'll get in touch with you after the Holidays.

A couple of books,Shipley and Josilyn, another knife(not a Rick knife(dang it)), a couple of gouges to round out what I wanted. A couple of other items not related to carving. The apron is still on the list.
But the best Christmas present was little Shaycee's last test results. Negative at this time.
Glad you all had a nice Christmas and Have a and Safe New Year.

I got to pick out my own gift, and the Art of Chainsaw Carving, by Jessie Groeschen was my choice. Our chainsaw died, so I will try to get one in the future to try my hand at this exciting carving technique.
The pictures in the book are amazing and inspiring.

My real gift is getting to go see my daughter in Costa Rica at the end of January. She's working down there at an Ecolodge as a naturalist, and I haven't seen her since the beginning of September. I am really looking forward to going.
