Default Kansas Tornadoe's

Last night at 9:45Pm we had a masive tornado hit west of us in Kansas. The storm hit at least 4 towns Greensburg being the largest. The city of Greensburg is around 2500 people and has been almost totally destroyed. I am not sure of the population. They said the tornado was 1 1/2 miles wide and left a path of destruction 90 miles long. There has been one confirmed death and so far 65 injured. They are still in the process of searching trough the rubble looking for survivors. We are supposed to have a high risk for severe weather today and tomorrow. My thoughts and prayers go out to the people who sufferred this terrible storm.

So far tonight there have been 12 tornados in the same area as last night. Greensburg they say is 95 percent destroyed. The death toll is at 9 and unkown number of missing. The law enforcement that I have talked too said they expect the death tol to rise. There are allot of rural areas that have been impassable because of flooding and debris on the roads. I heard that CNN has been showing footage. We were supposed to have severe weather tonight also but so far we have lucked out. The biggest problem with Greensburg is that there is no shelter left at all for the rescue workers. God bless them for what they do. Please Lord keep them safe.
Ron

Ron .. Thanks for the info ...

We deal with hurricanes where I live .. but you can run from hurricanes .. you cant from unexpected tornado's ...
Hurricane Rita we were told spun over 200 tornado's and this area showed it when we returned home ...

But this is different ... It doesnt seem like they had any warning ...
95 % destruction to a town is unbelievable ... Lord be with them all ...

Were glad you and your family are safe ... our prayers are with you Ron and please continue to let us know that your doing alright ....

Gene

Well this morning it was our turn. We had one headed our way and then changed direction. They say more to come this afternoon. They also put you in the watch box Kenny. Stay safe.

Ron, Where I live we only get watches and a few warnings, seldom anything comes of it. But on one of the TV news clips from Greenberg they showed a young family standing among the ruble that was once a home. My wife and I both had tears in our eyes when we heard this little 2 year old girl say "my house is just in little pieces". Those folks in Greensberg are going to need lot of help. We need to be alert as to how best to give that help. The whole town is in our thoughts and prayers....Tom H
