| | Just one of those day's!! I had a very interesting morning today. I received an email from the city traffic engineer yesterday that the audible signals had been installed on an intersection I had requested. It's about 8 blocks from the house but it's here I cross the street to the bus stop. So anyway I thought I would include it in my daily walk. I had walked about 6 blocks when I heard this thumping noise comming toward me. I couldn't tell what it was so I stood still and the next thing I know is this kid runs into me with his skate board. Then the little so and so told me to get the H%* out of the way. So I tried to remember the words of my trainer which are Consider the source from which the comment came from and go so I did. When I got to my intersection which is an 8 lane street I was ready to cross. I pushed the button and waited for my signal. When I heard it I started crossing and a car pulled left in front of me. The driver then commenced to cuss me out telling me to get the *^%" out of the street or he would run over my *%^ then drove off. I don't know how many of you know what a taser is but I was praying for one. I would have been more than happy to zap some manners into them. I called the police to see what I am supposed to do in these types of situations I don't think they knew or didn't what to tell me to carry a baseball bat. They said they would look into it and let me know. So like I said just one of those day's. Tomorrow will be a better day. Ron |

| | Re: Just one of those day's!! Ron, I know this won't help much but the only thing I can tell you is that people are idiots! Okay, 'nough said! More often than not, I'd be in the middle of a highway somewhere at 3 a.m. helping the cops move traffic around an accident while the wreckers were trying to clear the road of the wrecks, and these idiots would run into us--literally. And the only thing I could legally do was to utter the few lines of the prayer I included below. Of course, all the while, the cops would be kicking their sorry butts into the back of a police car--legally, of course! Hope your days are better, and remember: this too shall pass. The Serenity Prayer God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. |

| | Re: Just one of those day's!! Ron, I think I can mount a taser into your cane. But to be safe , can your seeing eye dog be a doberman ? Now for the next part You should have triped the kid on the skate board and said , sorry when you almost knock me down I became confused so I was just trying to get my bearings you see I am blind .... Then smacked him upside the head with your cane As for the guy in the car next time just smack the side of his car with your cane , see if that 1000.00 dent comes out while he is sitting in court explaining how he did not give you the right of way .. which by law in all 50 states he is required to do , even if your on an interstate. So you could have banged his car and he would have no recourse. If he was to get out of his car , hit him with your cane! Opps accidents happen ..... Ash |

| | Re: Just one of those day's!! Ron, I think Nancy summed it up very nicely. It is a shame that that happened to you but that is life my friend I dont know where some people get their manners. Hope that you were not tramatized too much but if it happened to me I would feel the same way. Those people are everywhere but for every one of them there are 1000 nice ones to take their place. Have a really good day tomorrow my friend. Colin |

I'm no pacifist by any means, I don't think violence is the solution for any problem (this coming from a guy who would fight anyone at the drop of a dime). You need to understand that theres a lot more good people out there than bad. I think Bob had a good answer with the sernenity prayer. The way that people are stressed out so much now a days theres little patience in the world, I hate to admit it even I find my self cussing people while driving home during rush hour. I'll bet you can tell more good things that happened to you than bad. I for one have felt better helping someone than hurting anyone. But by all means don't leave your self defenseless, maybe pepper spray might be the answer if you do get in a bind and can't find a way out, at least they'll get painted a little so it will make it easier for the police to find the culprits. (just don't get in your eyes) Remember carving helps you to relax and take your mind off all of the BS.
Just be careful out there and hang in there buddy and remember you always have friends here
Mel
