How tragic, Gene.. but I am glad to get the report you gave.. You hear things on the news, but not the overall picture.. They tell it when the storm goes through, but then we don't get many pictures about the left over sights..Just quick shots, but short stories. Thank's for telling us and I am glad you were spared from the worst of the storm. It will be a long cleanup for many. Charlottte

Gene, it's great to hear you are OK...lots of worried folks here on the board. What happened down you way was truly tragic, and our prayers are that things return to some semblance of normalcy soon.

So glad to hear from you! I'm glad you still have a job and a house. So many people won't have a home or a job to go back to. I can't imagine the heartbreak they must be enduring.

I can't add anything to what's already been said except that I'm glad your home and job were spared. The news has not reported any refineries down which makes me wonder if it's been made known outside of Texas..... When the news does break, yep, up will go the price of gas again.

Thanks for checkingin Gene, we were all quite concerned for you. Keep us posted on the goings on in the area when you can. I think we get more honest view of what's happening there from you than we do from the news media.

Gene...

Again, we're very glad that you and yours were spared any more pain and suffering than you've already had to endure.

But for us Floridian living on flooding prone coastal properties can you tell us what the elevations of those flooded towns like Orange, Bridge City, Crysal Beach, Saine Pass, Houston, Galveston, Baytown, and Kema were. And, how many were on barrier islands and how many were on coastal plains. Also, they said that "Ike" was a Cat 2 with Cat 3 and Cat 4 surge.... were those towns evacuated with that in mind?

Thanks for the report, Gene - glad to hear you're ok. My son, daughter-in-law, and grandson live in Metairie and had to evacuate, but they're back home and no damage.

Gene, I missed your listing and have been concerned and praying for your well being. I moved from West Orange Tx to the Ozarks in April and sold our old family homeplace to my cousin. My Sister and BIL came up to Harrison Arkansas and sheltered with us but my Aunt and cousins stayed in the old homeplace. It is one of the few sites in West Orange that didn't get water. Most of their homes were flooded and ruined but they are staying safe in the old home. Even Hurricane Rita didn't touch that old house.
Glad you're okay and work hard and send us more gasoline and commodities????haha
