Rick,

Something you can do might be to buff the floor that's bad to scratch, then apply a couple of coats of a good water-based floor Poly, buffing between coats. I recommended Pacific's "Bono X" before, but Varathane also makes a good product. You can put 2 coats down in a day if the floor area is small to medium. These products come in three sheens, Hi-gloss, semi-gloss and Satin. I've used these products on plank Spruce flooring, ( three coats), and even after 5 years there were very few dings or scratches. These folks also had a couple of medium size dogs. Another good thing about these floor finishes is they have little to no vapor smell. Hope this helps.

Rick,

It should almost make the superficial scratches disappear. But make sure you buff the floor first so the new coat will have something to stick to. I would definitely try it first in an inconspicous place such as an out of the way corner or closet. I always do that, try a spot first, to see if I like the result. The deeper scratches, you would need to get a filler stick that matches the color of your floor. That should help. The usual disclaimers apply
