Default A hot date

My absolute favourite gal in the whole wide world asked me out to a movie last night. Don't recall the name of the movie and couldn't care less. Just the fact that my wife asked me out was reason enough to go. Best part of that deal is, I know she'll be coming home with me!

But, y'know, life just doesn't work out like that - for me, anyway.

We decided to go to the early showing (7m) so afterwards, we'd have time to hit a corner store and browse the magazine rack, maybe hit the pizza joint on the way home as well.

Around 5:30 or so, I had a really bright idea I just couldn't bear not to start in on right away. I just wanted to rough the project out while it was still fresh in my mind. Sketching ideas, for me, just doesn't work. So I settled into my chair, glanced at the time, and started making shavings.

Wifey knocks on the door a few minutes later - 6:40 - and says we'd best get going soon, after all, it is a 10 minute drive to the theatre. I say "Yup, be right there!" And went on making chips.

At 6:55, wifey knocks on the door, and with some exasperation showing, says never mind, we'll go to the later showing. I look up, blow her a kiss, and say "Hey great! I'll buy the pizza afterwards!" And back to carving.

My hands are starting to ache somewhat since I haven't carved all that much lately, trying to give the tennis elbow and carpal tunnel a rest. I look at the clock, see it is 8:40 - just enough time to dust off, fetch wife, jump in car and boogey!

I run the vacuum over myself, shake out shirt, run outside to start car. Run back inside, decide to change shirt since it is still awful loaded up with dust and chips. I bounce up the stairs, holler for my lady to "let's go!", change my shirt and jeans and I'm ready to roll out the door.

Oddly, no wise-cracking from the wife on her way out to the car. Hmmm... Okay, she's miffed. (sigh) such is life.

Out to the car and - no sweety waiting for me. Very odd. Run back inside, call for wife --- no answer. Puzzled, I start to search for her, and find a note above the stove.

"Off visiting with Sylvia (her best buddy), see you when I get home. Maybe tomorrow you won't be too busy to go to a movie?"

Rats. In the dog house again.

Yup WC, you should be in the dog House for sure. No pity here. When the little woman says lets go to a movie, that means, stop what you are doing, and get in the car.
Personally, there isn't any movies I would waste my time on but it is the thought that counts.
Maybe tomorrow night, you will be waiting for her, eh?

OOOOOOOOOO! You're in trou-ble!

Let me repeat what I told Ashby, "Hap-py Wife, Hap-py Life!"

Jillsy

(confidentially, the carver in me would have done the same thing!)

Whitecree... I don't know how long you've been married but I've got 44-years under my belt and I can tell you from experience the same thing that you'll get from a high priced over paid therapist.... with the gals, the way to get lovin' is not with " want to do it tonight?" It's with a lot of attention, consideration and darn hard work! It's probably the hardest work a man has to do because our brain ain't wired that way but so help me gosh! It sure is worth it in the end. Sounds like you need to come up with a plan, real soon! Good luck!

Jillsy... You tell him! If Mama ain't happy, no one's happy!

One thing I have learned in 40 years with my little bride, "Do I want to be happy in my marriage or do I want to be right"!

I don't understand Whitecree. You're in the doghouse because you were working on carving something SPECIAL that was going to be a SURPRISE for your wife, right? I mean you WERE working on something that you ARE going to GIVE to your wife, RIGHT?

Ah...... Whitecree, my friend, you are in deep doo doo now! No getting around it!

Flowers might help, but don't get roses, cuz they have thorns and if she stays mad, she might hit you with the flowers, and that would hurt!

Candy might help, but be careful, if she's on a diet,or still mad and hit you with the candy that would hurt!

Better just 'fess up and take your licking! It's still going to hurt, but at least you know it's coming! Maybe the dog house ain't so bad, as long as you build it big enough!

Wish I could be more helpful.

Bob
