Couldn't have it better myself. Was going to give the same explination about the cells locking up tighter and faster. To me its worth the wait. I have a moisture meter over the shop and can keep a pretty good guess when the wood is just right for carving. A lot of the cost in wood is the energy to dry it. So if you don't mind waiting you get better wood for a cheaper price and don't add to the global warming problem.

Here is one for you about moisture. A friend called me up and asked if I would help him retreive a walnut log, his dad had submerged in a pond years ago, I was Interested in seeing it as I figured it would have rotten to pieces, Anyway, we got the log out and he had it sawed in to 1 inch and 2 inch thicknesses.
MAN, some of the prettiest walnut I have ever seen. My friend is a wood worker and is going to build some furniture for his lovely little bride. The Gain seemed to be more richer in color.
