| | Re: Help with pricing my work, please :) Yes all right. I just thought someone else must have made some lettering and would have some easy outline. Now that I looked at Mottles' link again, there was the perfect answer: minimum order of 250 dollars for work and material. Thanks!

People seem to equate cost with quality or bragging rights.

| | Re: Help with pricing my work, please :) Hruukki,,I had a friend who was a pro sign carver. Now this was years ago,,but they were getting 20-25 a letter for ones about your size. This seems to work with the price you are figuring on. Naturally as the letters grew the price increased. Most were ultimatly gilded,,that added as well. But I think you have a good starting point where you are. I did a house sign a few years back for a friend,,just a small plaque,,maybe 6 X 10 with three numbers on it,,and got $175.00 ,,only paint. Don't know if that helps or not,,but there it is. |

| | Re: Help with pricing my work, please :) I have always quoted what I thought was fair market value and got along just fine with that until I got into galleries. They really taught me how to sell and market my work. The gallery I'm in now told me to raise my prices because of the gallery percentage that was tacked on which was 40%. Can't say I haven't done ok with that formula. I think that people think that the more expensive the price the batter the art. It also helps if the buyer likes the artists style as well. Don't be afraid to go out of your comfort zone when it comes to pricing, people will buy it and be excited that they got a good deal. Every year I raise my prices 10% for gallery and commission peices. This offsets inflation and taxes and it also gives me more leeway in bargaining with customers. Bottom line is get what you think it''s worth ,and don't be afraid to bargain alittle. Welcome to Sierra Creek Studios |
