| | Have you ever cut yourself carving? I have heard of using super glue on cuts but has anyone ever heard of using black pepper? Check out this website from a home remedy: http://www.peoplespharmacy.org/archi...r_for_cuts.asp |

You still need to carry some band-aids.

| | Re: Have you ever cut yourself carving? I was at a seminar last year when the guy sitting next to me cut himself. He was on blood thinner and was having some difficulty stopping the bleeding. I offered some "New Skin" stuff I got at Wally World (a kind of super glue). That did not stop the bleeding so we resorted to my bottle of real super glue. That, too, failed to stem the flow.
A lady then said, "Here, try this." She handed us a big old box of black pepper. To which the injured party repllied, "Ma'am, it's not lunch time and I sure hope you are not into cannibalism." She lauged and said, "Just pour it on, it will stop the bleeding." It did and the only comment heard was, "Well, I'll be ___!" (hopefully he won't) . "It doesn't even burn." We put on a bandaid and he went back to carving.
I mentioned this to my brother and he said, "Well, I'm not surprised. I had problems with a radiator leak a few years ago and a guy told me to pour a box of black pepper in there. It stopped the leak."
Now, my friends, I love black pepper. But, sure am wondering, If it can stem blood flow and stop leaks in a radiator........?? |

| | Re: Have you ever cut yourself carving? I Googled around and there are a lot of people who say this works. I couldn't find any professional support for it, but that doesn't mean it's not true.
The only thing I would say is to be sure the pepper is as sterile as possible. I wouldn't use a container that has been opened before as it could harbor any number of bugs (even though pepper can be used as a preservative).
I plan to pick up some pepper packets next time I'm at a fast food joint to try. Not that I ever cut myself carving .

| | Re: Have you ever cut yourself carving? John, there are a lot of old home remedies or Foxfire Back hills remedies for all kinds of sickness or pains. One is if you get stung by a hornet or bee, tape a copper penny on the sting for 15 minutes. It works for sure so why not pepper on a cut. In my racing days we poored pepper in the radiator to keep the radiator from busting and if a hole did develop, the pepper stopped the leak.. Smelled like cooking a roast when we came in to the pits.
As for professionals admitting to these remedies. No they wouldn't. For one thing, they think they know it all, but all the are doning is "practiceing medicine"
Most of the old REAL doctor are no longer with us, now just pill pushers. My opinion and the only one that counts. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
