I hope Rick follows up with your question. I've always enjoyed his comments and noted to myself a couple of months ago I miss hearing from him. A very positive person and knowledgable in woodcraft. |

| | Re: Where Have you been Rick Ferry When I was a little nipper, we lived on the Columbia basin where the main crops were tumbleweeds and sage brush. I had a dog that was part Chihuahua, part Great Dane, with a little stepladder thrown in. More often than not, I would find myself inside a small culvert pipe that ran under the highway. Sure, Dad told me that we could have a flash flood if it rained in the mountains, but that was pretty hard to believe. I suppose I should have wondered why the pipe was half filled with sand. There was just enough room to crawl forward, forget trying to back out. I was half-way through the pipe when my stupid dog decided to meet me face-to-face. The problem here is that dogs can’t backup at all, something about how their legs are put together. I spent most of that day having my face licked by a mutt, who somehow didn’t grasp the gravity of our situation. About dinner time, someone noticed I hadn’t been around for a while and formed a search party. Sometime after dark Dad stopped laughing long enough to get a rope and pull me out. The moral to this story might be (to stay out of culvert pipes) or (it’s doubtful a goldfish would get in your face). But, I like to believe the real message is: (it may seem like I’m lost, but I know where I am). |
