Doris.....As there have been a gazillion posts on carvers wanting to know how much to charge for their work, "hruukki" just started a new one today, I just thought your recent good fortune might be a good example where they could see the actual piece, see how it was made, see how long it took to make it and finally, to see how much you sold it for. What better example? How can you ever expect to sell your work if you're hesitant to tell anyone how much you want for it?

I guess, like a woman's age, asking the price of their carvings is verboten too? Sorry!

jillsy and thor, hello ! thanks for congrats :-) ...yes, christkindlmarkt is where we can buy carvings, among other craft items. its a wonderful time, i love go there and look all things...

lynn, i accept your, and joggernots, good meant reason for asking what i received. i explained my reasons not to tell price... it has nothing to do with me being woman, and not want say age or price... i am not hesitant to tell a person the prize for a carving he/she considers to buy, but it is pointless to tell a prize of a sold item to me...mary poppins is sold...

in trying to be helpful to the carvers trying to find how much to charge for their piece, i listed some of the points a carver should ask himself, if he wants find a suitable prize for his carving. that was what i did, answering these questions ...the answers to these questions are individual, my prize of mary poppins does not help another carver to answer any of these questions...

if all these carvers want orientate their prizing on someoneelses prizing, which is to me a wrong idea, then there are enough homepages of members of wci here, where they can look in galery and see prize of item. your own is an example for that. i dont see benefit to add my prizing of a sold item to that list.

No Doris, it isn't that, Most carvers here that do sell already have their priceing process done and ask for what they believe is a fair prise for their creations. I believe originally, the question or statement was to help you in your priceing process. Yes, It is nobody's business like Mark stated but then, isn't this board about learning all areas of carving.

Personally, I don't care what you got for your carving. I was glad that you sold your first and glad you were satisfied with what you got.
It is a shame that your thread has been reduced down to " mind your own business attitude" by someone.
Best wishes to you and have a great week carving.
