| | Re: Happy Father's Day! I do a Fish Auction every Fathers' Day. A local fishing tournament ends that day. Most of the deep-water fishermen involved are after trophies, not fish. The awards are Sunday morning. If they haven't claimed their fish by then, we auction them off to the crowd...big fish...50 lbs or more some of them...amber jack, grouper, snapper, etc. The proceeds go to the local youth organization, to help keep the local small-town kids out of mischief for the summer.
My wife goes to her Mom's whose birthday is about then. She lives 600 miles away. My kids live in New York, New Orleans, Portland OR, South Florida. I hope for phone calls. But I spend Fathers' Day alone...with about 50 fishermen and locals hoping to take dinner home cheap! It's actually fun! And I always end up with a good mess of fish, usually a year's worth. It's in Carabelle, FL, if any of you want to come down for it...bring your cooler!
Then after the Auction, I'm driving 511 miles back to TN, staying nearly 6 weeks while my barn is being built!
