Dave, here is a link with a map it will explain location better than I. Crown King, Arizona Directions. We had a lot of smoke here in Prescott Valley and folks had their headlights on yesterday morning in Prescott.

Hope you are getting some of this rain and not dry strikes. I have seen some good activity on north rim and four corner area, we got a good drenching yesterday in Mountainaire so relief is headed your way.
Are the Air Tankers rattling your windows?

Jim | Hi Jim, no rattles we are on their flight pattern going and coming. Here is a little update as of this morning. As you read you'll see there is another fire now. Must be in that same area....We did have some rain yesterday with rolling thunder and lightening lasted about an hour.
How's things on the Res? Getting any carving done?

The forecasted mid afternoon thunderstorm activity in the southern Bradshaw Mountains has caused the Lane 2 Fire to increase in size. The storm with strong winds from the north caused an airflow which pushed the fire in a south southeasterly direction toward the Horsethief Basin recreation area. Spot fires have occurred ahead of the spreading fire and suppression actions are being taken to protect the facilities in the area. No immediate threat to these facilities exists at this time. |

If you have not been through lately; lots of building on the rez, since the Bennett Freeze was lifted. The corn in L. Moencopi looks knee high and it's just about 4th of July.
I do not want to discuss my carving right now; but hopefully things will turn out OK. [I am bumping a deadline]
Air Tankers seem to be so much more considerate these days. Years ago, when I lived near Grand Canyon Airport, my decrepit trailer was right in the flight path of "Miss Piggy" a Fairchild C-119G and everyone in town knew when she took off. Stuff would literally fall off the wall. I somehow found myself manager of the slurry side of the base one year, and we had a Lockheed P-2V subchaser with jet assist, and she would definately rattle some walls. Ah; good times, lots of funny stories, and a couple tragic endings. I think my old dispatcher, Chuck, is doing his thing at the Prescott super base, you may see him on the news.
I better get some painting done.

jim | Oops, missed your post, sorry kinda late! Our Crown King Fire is at 50% containment. Talk of letting the residents return to their homes by tomorrow. That is really good news for them, poor folks!
Jim, you should carve a 'Miss Piggy" that would be really cool!
While waiting for our home to be completed we rented a condo at the Prescott Airport. What an exciting time and we experienced the slurry bombers and everything that accompanies them to fire's.
Sure got to see a lot of different airplanes.
Take care,
