| Last wk before the carving show in Townsend,I called the oxygen dept at the VA,the lady in charge, always has my tanks & machine waiting for my arrival in the motel room. It was all waiting for me last wk end too. Just speaking with her on the phone, she said, your breathing isnt right Forrest, she set me some lung test yesterday at the VA. I couldnt even make some of the test,my breathing was down that bad. The glass body box test, you are inside,I couldnt even make 2 test in it this time. Checking my other lung functions, and the blood test they do in your artery they all hit bottem. At the VA you have to go through your main Dr to get anything done, see about other problems, etc which can take months! She told me after Id been there for hrs yesterday,I need to been seen my a Pulmonary Dr. right away. She called me later yesterday,You have a appt with such in such Pulmonary Dr at 8:30 am today. My wife went with me. Right on time, the nurse took me to him,he pulled up every thing about me on his PC,he took me for the walk with the thing on your finger,he bought me back to the room quick. Cking more about me on his PC and all the test and reports and picts of my insides,he send me to have a ECG/EKG,took only 3-4 mins, took the papers from that test right back to him. In Feb,I went to the ER at the VA with chest pains, hooked me to all the machines and I was there about 6 hrs, sent home no heart problem. The Dr this morning compared that Feb test,Forrest you was on the line of haven a big heart attack right then that day and todays EKG scan showed Id had a heart attack since this past Feb.{wasnt the first time the VA Drs almost killed me in the ER} He sent my main Dr all this information with all the test or anything he has to approve. I got Nitrostat Nitroglycerin pills in my pocket even as Im typing this plus hope I get the paper work soon next wk for all the heart test! He told me,you might need surgery or something else about your now heart problems. HOW I made the hot trip and all down to the Townsend show,I will never know. The Dr told me today,You dont even go outside till you come in for the heart tests. I told him,I have two little dogs I have to walk out side,YOU CANT DO IT! My wife will take off tomorrow to help me on the dogs plus any thing I need. Guess the main caver & creator in the sky,has carving for me to do in the future when I get seen about this new problem with my heart. Besides all the above,I missed a whole day today of carving, will start on something tomorrow.lol Thanks for your thoughts and I'll take them and your prayers! Forrest

I can't imagine anything slowing you down Forrest. Given my work profession and volunteer efforts over the years with people with heart conditions, I can relate to your situation. Keep your head up and attitude positive....you'll find things will improve and you will be carving more than ever. Patrick |

I guess, while you're resting up, you'll just have to take on some smaller projects ... oh wait ... you can't really carve any smaller than you already do, can you? I wish all the very best to you and hope you can get back to business asap. We'll all be waiting, with magnifying glass in hand, to admire your next carvings. Rooster. |

Hang in there Forrest! I had a bit of shortness of breath, which I thought was my asthma, around 3 years ago. Cardiologist gave me a stress test, and told me I needed some Stents inserted. In a couple days, while beginning to put in the stents, the surgeon says "uh, oh..." (NOT somthing you normally want to hear in surgery, but I was on happy juice so it didn't bother me any) Seems I had at least one totally blocked artery. He checked to see if I go right on down to main surgery, but they were booked. Sent me home for the weekend and was told to take it easy all weekend. On Monday, I had a quad bypass. Worst part of the whole thing? Having to wait over the weekend. Second worst? They give you a special pillow to hug if you need to cough or sneeze...I had to use it a couple days after surgery...man, that hurt! Glad I had my pillow! Anyway, do what they tell you for therapy during recovery. I had to walk, and walk, and walk...fortunately, I had just gotten my iPhone, so I could listen to podcasts, music, etc., while walking, and my wife could easily check up on me. I carry that little bottle of pills with me also. I do some traveling because of work, and everynow and then, one of the TSA people ask me whats in the little bottle. I always answer "heart pills" and they're satisfied. I suspect they wouldn't be quite as happy if I answered truthfully (and loudly) "nitroglycerin"... ![]() Claude |

Forrest, I just read what you had to say, and your not getting away from any of us. Ya hear.? I'm so sorry , and I can't believe what you just came back from in Townsend. Well just rest like the Doc said and see what he has to say.We all need you and I still haven't made my trip down to Tn yet. I have a guy that I worked with who lives there and I will see if I can't make it this year coming.Being a Vet and all you have done for us I know the good Lord will watch over you. I'll be saying my prayers for you and who knows., maybe when they fix you up, you can lose the oyx too. Prayers are going out now, take care and keep us posted. Your friend fred k
