Default Had a good visit

well folks this past week i was on vacation, and had a ball, this week wednesday we had some good friends blake and rachel and haley lunsford come down from tenn.and stay with us,we had a busy week but on friday when the girls went shopping blake and i got to spend the whole day carving it was a great day carving with a good friend as i dont get to do that often, then on friday night we had the old scott boy himself arnold smith and his sweet wife miss judy and mr frank feilds and and his wife miss janet also from the dublin area for supper, were i fixed a big old pot of low country boil and fixed a churn of homemade ice cream, and to go along with that we had a fudge pie and german chocolate cake,it was good eating and good fellowship, but here it is sunday mourning and the lunsfords are headed back to bristol, hoping they have a safe trip, it was a fun busy weekend but i would not trade it for the world, any time spent with good friends is precious.

Bart,

Man you have given me a serious case of "hongriees"! I was born and raised around the Savannah area, and lived in Ellabell for 18 years. Lots of good memories of passin' a good time with good friends over a huge pot of low country boil!! Definitely high on my list of things I'd like to do one more time before I leave this world.

L.P.

Yes we had a good visit with Bart, Donna, Madison, Blake, Rachel and Haley. Bart is not only a good carver but a good cook and ice crean maker. We enjoyed spending time with our wood carving friends.

Welp, we are back home in one piece! I have to admit, that Low Country Boil was about the best meal I have had the opportunity to share with good friends in a very long time! And Wow, what a weekend!! Bart, Donna, and Madison sure made us feel welcome and part of the community. I sure hated to pull out of that driveway this morning. We will definitely be going back down for some good food and fellowship! Also, to get to spend time with Arnold and his lovely wife Judy, and Frank and his wife Janet was icing on the cake. Thanks again Bart for lining this all up and for having my family in your house for 5 days.

Also, the carving time was priceless! I learned a ton getting to sit with Bart and carve. Anyone who knows his work knows that a day carving with him would be worth a ton! I tried to soak it all in! We carved solely with a knife and he showed me the finer points of carving a caricature from head to toe with just one blade. Expect to see some of carvings from me using this style. It definitely regenerated my passion for carving caricatures.

If you get the opportunity to get together with fellow carvers and carve (or spend several days together), take advantage of it. It will definitely be time well spent. I won't be taking another vacation this year, but the time I spent in Savannah was time off well spent.

Blake

That sounds like a wonderful weekend. Food, friendship and flicking chips off a piece of wood.
