Default Go to your local Hospital for neat stuff

I work at a community hospital and every year they have an auction to get rid of old stuff. I would imagine most community hospitals do something similar. It might be worth checking out. The items below are things I got for free or a few bucks apiece. The light is an old surgical light. It has a handle you can grab and position very easily and comes with a mounting plate, IV pole, works great for Foredom, The stand is awesome, its very heavy & stable, I intend to use it with a carvers screw to hold my blanks. The wheel turns and moves the top up and down. Not sure how the forceps and scissors will be put to use but thought somehow they could be useful for holding/clamping things. Anyway just thought I would pass along you might have a treasure chest in your town worth tapping into.

Great suggestion. I've also got some dental picks from my dentist at my last visit.

I'm a fly fisherman and I have a pair of forceps hanging on my vest from a zip reel - very useful for retrieving a fly from a fish. I also use some of the surgical scissors in my fly tying...

Many, many, many, years ago when I first started out in air conditioning and refrigeration I used change the A/C filters in a sorting room for a commercial laundry. They used to find all kinds of stuff in the linens, blankets and resuseable drapes from a hospital that it serviced. The laundry didn't want them so I apropriated them and still have a nice collection of forceps and surgical scissors. Like Claude says, they come in handy for everything from fly tying, to crafts, to other miscellaneous projects around the house.
