I lived in Kansas for about 3 years. Just outside of Stanley . And for those that do not know Stanley is a very interesting place, seems the Wizard of Oz was based at Stanley Kansas. I was in Louisburg , and some of the nicest people I ever met still live there.
That said I will always remember Kansas for 3 things. The people , the wind , and the weather. Snow up to your .... , wind that would blow you away everyday, and watching the torandos running around the hills. I think I spent as much time in the storm cellar as I did above ground. Quote:
Ashbys,
Sounds like you've already tasted the "Spiced Rum" and found it unresistable, hic.
| I am a frim beleiver in God gave many gifts for men to enjoy on this earth. Nothing ever in excess but the beauty of the land, and the fruits of the earth.
To spend a quiet day fly fishing from horseback , with a small flask of spiced rum or a touch of peach brandy , while having a cool pipe of rich Virginia tobacco is a day to be honored and cherrished as one of those rare gifts given to men . |

| | Re: Global Warming! Boomer is about 14. Yeah....he's a nice horse. Has a mind of his own without the halter but once it's on he's the best friend you could have. Sugar, the wife's ride, is the friendly one. Always has her front leg up begging for a handout or a head scratch. They say that the two best days of horse ownership are the day you get one and the day you get rid of it. I think we're still a long way from the latter! |

| | Re: Global Warming! Yup, we had about a foot of global warming 2 days ago, 6 inches of it 3 days before that, another 2 inches last night, and more on the way.
Maybe I'll go out and work on my suntan today... |

| | Re: Global Warming! That was a very beautiful picture. Very foreign to me because we don't get much snow down here in South Louisiana. It is a little bit cold here though. This morning was "nearly freezing". LOL |

| | Re: Global Warming! Heard today our locally annual amout of snow fall is 9.1 inches and we received 15 inchs in one night. Some areas locally got 20 inchs and the drifts higher. Had 3 foot behind the garage where the door is. Got it dug out and car out. Nice of the city to plow the streets though, but then, they plowed the car in so dug that out. . One was laughing when he came by. But driving by the homes, they had nice plowed out driveways. Got to love thoose city workers. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
